| somthymes's Full Review: AT&T Mobile Phone Service in San Francisco/San Jos... |
I signed up online for an AT&T phone service with a free Nokia 6800 phone, which is a really nice one. As I rarely use the service and basically wanted it for emergencies, I wanted a simple, cheap service and selected the $19.99 plan. It has been 3 months and to date my bills have been: $29.99, $29.99 and $35. Calls to AT&T Customer Service have an average wait of 20-30 minutes. When I finally got through, the rep told me that he could only switch me back to $19.99 for the following months and EXPECTED ME TO PAY THE PREVIOUS CHARGES IN FULL!! I use the phone for less than 30 minutes per month, which should have been covered in my contract without additional charges. In all, my conversation lasted about 20 minutes, with less than 5 minutes of actual talk time with the rep, after about 25 minutes waiting for a rep to actually pick up the line. He kept putting me on hold and said there were system problems. He finally agreed to credit me for the extra charges after insisting that there was nothing he could do about previous over billing. I'll also have to call back next month to protest again as the next bill will still be at the $29.99 rate, per the rep. I'm considering packing the phone back up and returning it.
