This unit is a hot-rod among MP3 players. Too bad the software doesn't keep up.
The good: good sound, easy to use. Solidly built. I've had this unit for a year and it's been a very solid performer. I've used it, dropped it, erased, changed batteries. Everything but taken it into the bath.
The bad: the software that comes with it is not particularly powerful. WOrse, the software necessary to install firmware upgrades does not run properly on Win 2K.
This means that I'm still using the old software and firmware. It makes changing the tunes on the unit a real pain.
That said, the fact that I'm still using it attests to it's good points.
One final note: the memory cards are very pricey, so make sure that you compare like to like if you're comparing the Nomad to comparable units from other producers.
