Child Care Provider Appreciation Day

The Bottom Line If you have a great child care provider and you want to show them how much you appreciate all they do why not do it on this special day.

Are your children in day care? Do you have a babysitter? Are there people in your child's life that are caring and encouraging, who make your life easier? If you say yes then I am sure you would want the chance to show your appreciation and support to them. Now you have it. Don't forget that May 11, 2001 is Child Care Provider Appreciation Day.

We take our children to professionals who give them what they need while we are away. Some times those people do only the minimum required but more often than not we get a child care provider who is caring and giving. It is important to foster those qualities in our child care workers. By showing them how thankful we are for all the hard work they do we can increase the numbers of child care workers who feel like they are making a difference. After all doesn't everyone want to be recognized for doing a great job in whatever career they choose and aren't we giving these workers those things which are most precious to us and allowing them to mold our future?

Providing care for a child is an extremely difficult job. It is very rewarding, but that doesn't make it easier. A child care provider goes home physically and emotionally drained. In return shouldn't we say thank you and show some support. I want everyone to remember to let your Child care provider know how important he or she is.

I personally do not have a child care provider because I am a stay at home mom, but the children do attend school part time and I will be telling the teachers and their staff how much I appreciate them with a simple card that each of the children helped me to make. You can make a gesture of appreciation by sending a simple note, buying a small gift, or anything else you feel is appropriate.

Child care organizations nationwide have joined together in recognizing this special day for child care providers and I am asking that you do so as well. Of course you shouldn't stop with that day, why not tell your child care provider every day that you are grateful for all they do in order to make life more full for both you and your child.
