Jerusalem Pearl (aka) Dan pearl
Written: Jan 27 '04
Pros:Location only
Cons:breakfast never open on time, service very poor, full variety
not available, hot food cold
The Bottom Line: Keep away from this poor example of a four star hotel.
Of all my visits to Israel this hotel, regardless of stars,is the poorest. When I asked the Dining room captain why the dining room for breakfast was never open on time
and is not fully stocked, he blamed it on unknown factors.
The furniture in the room and in the lobby had seen it's better days. The springs in the chairs were fully collapsed.
The safe in my room had it's door removed. The elevators were malfunctioning and should never have passed a safety inspection. It took five days to get face cloths. When I asked for a Jerusalem Post at the front desk I was told you had to get on the list. This option was never offered to me before. After complaining about the orange juice being watered down orange punch, the dining room captain insisted
that it was real orange juice. Although after complaining to the front desk and being told that it was not their area of responsibility, fresh oranges and grapefruit were supplied along with a hand juice extractor for one to squeeze their own juice. Not what one would expect at a four star hotel. Fresh fruit was never available at any other meals.Friday night and Saturday meals were not what one would expect of a four star hotel, but the prices were that of a five star hotel. In the middle of the day lobby floors were washed and not dried very well. Washing of lobby floors should have been done when traffic was at a minimum not during heavy traffic time. Bottom line: there must be a reason why the hotel no longer owned by the Dan chain.
