I don't have a real review of The Azalea Inn, but I was booked to stay there five years ago. After the World Trade Centers had been attacked, my wife and I knew we wouldn't be taking our planned business trip, so we called to cancel our reservation.
The owner was quite hostile, claiming that no one else had cancelled that day. We were stunned. A month later, the bill appeared on our credit statement, which we contested. (It was eventually taken off.)

An Amazing Weekend at the Azalea Inn (Reply to this comment)
by hopkindawn
Recently, we were fortunate to have stayed at the Azalea Inn located in Banner Elk. Never having stayed in a bed and breakfast, we were a bit anxious. However, upon our arrival, we were greeted by Karen who was diligently working in the Inns stunning flower beds. We proceeded to the door and could not resist the scrumptious homemade cookies. We were then escorted to the Magnolia Room by Frank. The cleanliness of this Inn was immaculate. This experience was just superb. Whether it was relaxing and reading in the sitting area in the backyard surrounded by a beautiful landscape, venturing over to the quaint little shops within walking distance, or enjoying the tranquility of the surroundings, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The next morning we strolled down to an amazing breakfast!!! One we couldnt even describe. The greatest part, Frank shares his recipes! We departed with full stomachs and exquisite memories! We look forward to another visit to the Azalea Inn!- Dawn and Bart

This is a great inn, I searched on Google for Banner Elk, NC - I knew the area I wanted to stay in, but not the inn. After talking with Frank (the innkeeper) several times, through email and on the phone, it seemed like the right one to pick. I was right. A wonderful selection!

Happy 10th!
I was wondering where you found out about this bed and breakfast and what made you pick THIS one?
Thanks for a nice review,

This sounds like a "must stay" place. (Reply to this comment)

I've never stayed at a B&B. I was always afraid I'd get ito something like the Bates Motel...weird people, sharing a bathroom... stuff I can get if I go to a family reunion. But this place sounds incredible!
Great review and I'm putting it on my places to visit!

I want to go! (Reply to this comment)

The last time I was honored to be in NC was 25 years ago, when I was a mere 14 year old. I attended a Christian camp called "The Wilds" and I absolutely fell in love with the people, the surroundings, the climate, the awesome mountains - everything! Now I want to go back more than ever to see for myself what the Azalea Inn is all about; your description sounds marvelous and the wheels are turning to make reservations upon my husband's return from Iraq. It'd be good for him, and gosh-darn-it, I want to meet Frazier too! :-) Frank sounds wonderful too - a man who can cook is always a welcome thing! Great review dear; thanks for inspiring me!
Have a most perfect day,
-Sunni
