If you haven't heard of this game, you're not alone. It is the only game published by Pinball Wizards -- however, Pinball Wizards is part of Apogee Software, the company that brought you Duke Nukem 3D, Commander Keen, Wolfenstien 3d, and a slew of other games (some under the 3d Realms brand.)
Anyway, Balls of Steel is okay -- for a pinball game. Now don't get me wrong. I like pinball, but there are so many pinball games for the PC, but absolutely none of them feel like pinball. Where are the big buttons? The flashing lights? The sweaty smell of the arcade? PC pinball games feel more like computer games than they could. I think Balls of Steel could have emulated the pinball experience a bit better.
The physics of Balls of Steel leave much to be desired. It seemed as though the ball was dropping straight down, not rolling down a slopped table (there wasn't enough friction.)
Early versions of Balls of Steel don't work with most graphics cards. However, there is a patch that seems to work, although I have not tested it extensively. Be warned.
