Suffering From Writer's Block? Maybe You Need A Break

The Bottom Line If you find yourself suffering from Writer's Block or have lost the love you once had for Epinions, consider taking a break!

It happens to all of us from time to time - the inability to put into words the thoughts that are going through your mind. You know what you want to say, you just have no idea how to say it or why, or where, or when.

Back in January, shortly after Epinions changed the format of their site, I found myself in front of the computer reading & rating Epinions, but could not for the life of me write a decent review. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of things to write about, I just couldn't figure out what it was I wanted to say and how to word it.

Maybe I was burned out, after all I had been actively writing, reading at Epinion for over a year and had spent countless hours in front of the computer day after day, week after week, month after month. Back in January, just as Epinions was overhauling it's website, I began suffering from a bad case of writer's block. No matter what I did, or how I did it, I just could not write a review.

I decided that maybe I just needed a break for a few weeks from Epinions. I decided to spend a lot less time at Epinions (and at my computer) and a little more time with my family doing things they like to do. Those few weeks quickly turned into a few months as I rediscovered myself and my family.

Don't get me wrong, I never left Epinions entirely - I was still here, lurking and reading & rating every few days, after all I was suffering from "Epinions Withdrawal", and I had to feed that withdrawal somehow. The more I visited Epinions, the more I knew that I had to come back, someday.

I decided that I would try to eliminate the writer's block, by simply devoting a small portion of time every day writing in a journal. I never realized how much enjoyment I would get out of keeping a journal! Not only did I write down my feelings & thoughts, but I also kept track of all the different things happening in my family. I actually looked forward to writing again! Soon I found myself writing down thoughts and ideas that I hope to incorporate into future product reviews and editorials here at Epinions, and I actually enjoyed writing them!

So what's my point?

My point in this editorial, is to let you know that it is ok to take a break from Epinions. If you are suffering from "writer's block", or you no longer get the same enjoyment writing reviews that you once did, then maybe it's time for you to take a break. Whether it's a few days, a few weeks, or a even a few months, a break away from Epinions may be exactly what you need. Don’t give up writing entirely, set aside some time every day to write something. Whether it’s a poem, a journal entry or even a short story, keep on writing!

I have to say that it’s great to be back! You’re going to be seeing a lot of me over the course over the next few months, as I have tons and tons of things to write about!

Boy did I miss this place!!!
