Like many others, I was attracted to the idea of starting my own e-store and making what they claimed to be easy money. All the hype surrounding this site is just that, hype. I guess I learned my lesson, as I have tried many get rich quick schemes and all have ended in failure. Although I have received checks in the past from Get paid to surf programs.
The first thing you will find, and this I give credit to, is the site builder, in which you construct your web store. You can choose from various product lines you want to sell, or create a web mall and sell every product under the sun. Either type is easy to create with just a few keystrokes. You have the option of choosing the layout, colors and fonts of the website. You are also given the option to customize the slogans, and all written material to personalize your site. They also register a domain for you, and for the most part, the selections are fairly easy to remember and advertise.
When you sell a product, you are given a cut or commission from each sale. The amount you make depends on what type of item you sell and how big your store is. Usually you will make between 5% to 20% of each sale. It makes no sense to me though, that you make 5% if you sell a cd if you site is a music store, but only 3% if your e-store contains other items like electronics. Basically the catch is, while they create the store for you, it is up to YOU to do all the advertising for them, only to give you a very small share of the profits. This is the furthest thing from a get rich quick scheme. Most people I have talked to don't make a penny.
The main problem I had with them is their technical support. I wrote them dozens of times to get them to set up their system to accept orders from outside the US. I mean any company can send to Canada, but apparently they couldn't figure it out. I had many of my friends waiting to make purchases, and everytime they went to purchase something, it would come up with a sign saying they are currently working on shipping internationally, and to check back in a few days. This went on for 6 months. Then came the dreaded letter. They told me that since I had not completed a sale in the past 6 months, that they were going to turn off my site. I pleaded with them, and told them that I have not had any sales, for the reason that they can't ship anything here yet. The reply they kept giving me is "sorry, we are working at getting international orders up and running, and I should buy something myself to avoid getting shut down." This was a vicious circle as everytime I wrote and said I couldn't place an order, they wrote back telling me to just place an order and all will be fine. Nice to see they don't actually read their support e-mails, or haven't got anyone bright enough to put two and two together. Anyway, I checked the other day, and yes they did in fact shut down my site. After all the promoting I did for the site, ( I had 50-60 hits a week), it still wasn't good enough for them and my site was closed. I am just happy I didn't pour to much money into advertising.
To summarize, I believe this site has potential, if they ever get their act in gear. And to all those living in the US, I believe it is worthwhile checking vstore.com out, even if it is to just get back a cut on any orders you may be already making. If you live elsewhere, don't waste your time.
