The Ten Best Sports Films of all Time!!!!!!!!!

Apr 10 '01

The Bottom Line I love many sports movies because there almost all the time, very entertaining. I feel these ten surpass the rest, but it was a tough choice

10.)FIELD OF DREAMS- One of the most popular sports movies of all time, that stars Kevin Costner as a farmer who builds a baseball field because a voice he hears tells him too. Contains a great message with a nice ending.

9.)RAGING BULL- A very good movie that tells the life story of a boxer from the 40's named Jake LaMotta. Very realistic with great acting in which Robert Deniro won an Oscar for. Also this movie was nominated for Best Picture, which was well deserved.

8.)THE SIXTH MAN- A good college basketball film, which is hard to come by because they don't make that many. It stars Marlon Wayans who plays in the NCAA with his brother who has an unfortunate accident which kills him. He ends up to come back as a ghost and help his brother with his life and basketball skills. Very warming, with a sad ending.

7.)HAPPY GILMORE-The funniest golf movie ever. This movie stars Adam Sandler as a washed up hockey player who gets noticed at a driving range for his driving power. Halarious with some great sports moments.

6.)A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN- Although some might say this is a chick flick because it is about a girl baseball team. I would say it is the best baseball movie I have seen. Most of the other one's are just stupid comedies or unrealistic happenings. Tom Hanks is halarious in this film.

5.)TIN CUP- Another movie that stars Kevin Costner, who is probably the king of sport movies. This time he is a Driving Range owner that falls in Love with a psychiatrist(Rene Russo) that is trying to help him with his competing and hard headedness. Great unexpected Ending.

4.)KINGPIN- Probably the funniest sport's movie I have seen, well that is if you consider bowling a sport. This movie has lots of great laughs and is very well acted by Woody Harrelson and Randy Quaid. Also directed by the two best comedy directors, the Farrely brothers.

3.)WHITE MAN CAN'T JUMP- This movie is such a great basketball film because it is different then the others. It is more about street ball and hustling on the courts then playing on the court. It has a lot of great sport scenes, esepecially the final match at the end of the movie. Stars Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes who are great in their roles.

2.)ABOVE THE RIM- The best basketball movie of all time and the most realistic. Maybe I like this movie so much because basketball is my favorite sport but I think even if you don't enjoy basketball that much you will still appreciate the great acting and true to life script. Awesome tournament at the end that has some of the best sports scenes ever filmed.

1.)ROCKY- My very favorite sports movie of all time. This movie is very well acted by Slyvester Stallone(which is kind of a surprise)Talia Shire and Burt Young. This is about an athelete that defies the odds and gets a once in a life time oppertunity to fight the heavyweight champion of the world. This movie one best picture in 1976 and too me is one of the best movie of all time.

Thanks a lot for reading and I hope you take my advice and get to see these films. You will Love um!
