This past Christmas I received a lot of nice things from friends and family members; everything from Lego sets to clothes but one stood out from the rest. A small card tucked into a gold lined envelope held a gift that keeps on giving all year long the Critter of The Month. Knowing my weakness for strange stuffed animals and the general lack of such items in my area, Chris sought out some unique plushies for me via the internet and got me a years subscription to Plush Dreams series of high end stuffed animals. Stuffed animals dont overpopulate my house but I do have a small collection of weird plushies; the usual Halloween ones, some of the older Meanies, WWF bears and of course Beanie Babies [most of which are tucked away for the time being]. Chris decided to get me this wonderful gift knowing that these little critters would always have a spot on my bed, dresser or one of the many shelves in the bedroom, how can you possibly resist an adorable plush I know I cant!
Id never heard of the site so when the first two critters arrived I was more than a little curious to see what the company was all about. 99% of what they sell are stuffed animals with a few toys tossed in for good measure. These arent the common stuffed animals that youd find at places like Toys R Us or KB Toys but rather the ones youd come across at card stores or stores that deal exclusively with plush animals. The prices range from the mid teens to over a hundred dollars so there is a pretty impressive price range to choose from. The assortment of critters is nice but there arent enough seasonal items to choose from, this may chance around the various holidays but for right now there arent any Halloween [bats, cats etc] or Christmas themed animals at the site.
Plus Dreams Online Store
The site carries a few lines of upscale and higher end plush animals; two of the biggest names at the site are Sigikid and Little Friends although you will find a few from Manhattan Toy here and there. The site is broken down nicely and you can navigate around by price range, style of animal or size. The gift certificate option is really nice and allows the recipient to choose which ever plushies they want. All of the listings come with a color photo, price and size so you can get a good idea of what the animals is all about. The site does offer a no questions asked return policy on all the items that they sell so if you are ever dissatisfied with a purchase, returning it wont be a problem. As a whole the site is pretty basic and there arent a lot of heavy graphics to slow you down. No dead link, no pop up ads and no outside advertising three very good things! When I went to place an order for a plushie for my sister I did have some trouble getting the page to load and complete the transaction so I opted to send her a gift certificate via email and let her pick out what ever she wanted.
Critter of The Month Club
While you can always purchase any of the animals seen at the site individually, the Critter of The Month Club is a great way to say I Love You over and over again without having to pick up something special or having to keep track of special dates through out the year. You can choose from a six or twelve month plan that will automatically ship you the plushies each and every month. The price might make some people fall over but trust me, they are well worth it. The six month plan will set you back $400.00 and the year plan $725.00, both of these prices include shipping and handling fees. You should make sure that this is something that the recipient will really love because this is a pretty big investment to make but if you look at the assortment that you are getting [this is listed at the site] youll see that you are saving a good bit of cash over purchasing them individually. This is also a great way to reward an employee of the month or for small offices to say thanks, you can hand them out once a month or stock them up for the holidays.
If this isnt something that you want to commit to you can also opt to send a gift certificate with denominations from $30.00 to $200.00 and you can have them sent via email or regular post. This is a great option when you are shipping for someone that seems to have everything, get them a gift certificate from this store and they are sure to find something that theyll fall in love with. I really like the fact that you have a choice of how it is delivered, sometimes I am looking for just the right gift for someone but they dont use the internet that often and I worry that they will miss the email or it will get deleted as spam.

The Bottom Line
I didnt ask for this gift nor did I have any special requests for stuffed animals this past holiday season but I am pretty impressed with the quality of what I have received so far, how they are packaged and the pristine condition they arrive in. The site is very easy to get around and offers you some interesting selections of animals to choose from; everything from pigs to mice, penguins to bears and ladybugs to cows. I hate to say that this is a site for collectors since they do offer products that will last more than a few years but the price do really put it out of a lot of people price ranges. But like I always say, you do get what you pay for [most of the time] and I cant argue that these are some of the sturdiest, well crafted plushies Ive come across in a long time. If you are looking for a unique stuffed animal or a gift that is sure to knock someones socks off, this is definitely a site to check out!
As always, thanks for the read!
