| bluedot-79's Full Review: KitchenAid Blender Ultra Power 5 speed KSB5CP |
This Kitchen Aid 5-Speed Ultra Power Blender was a wedding gift that I received from my Mother over three years ago. My mother has loved her Kitchen Aid appliances for years and she gave this to me along with a Kitchen Aid Classic 4.5 Quart Stand Mixer and a Kitchen Aid 9 Cup Classic Food Processor. Each of these quality products has not only enhanced my kitchen, but also my cooking skills (Which my husband loves!)
This is without a doubt the best blender I have ever used. The ultra power really is ultra powerful. It literally takes seconds to crush ice
and let me tell you, every piece is always evenly crushed. You dont end up with one or two whole pieces of ice floating somewhere in your frozen drink or smoothie mixture. This model comes in many great colors (including yellow, chrome, cobalt, and tangerine), but I own the basic white.
I make those drinks they have at Orange Julius. This blender has become my best friend for mixing those. It is great for a morning smoothie or frozen margaritas, and my husband often uses it for his protein shakes.
Features of the Kitchen Aid Ultra Power 5-Speed Blender include the following items:
The 40 oz. Glass Jar, which is very heavy duty. This glass is very thick. It is very easy to clean and to lock into the power base for use. It has nice rounded sides which make scraping the sides really simple. The lid is great because it really provides a strong seal. (When I first got this machine, the lid was very hard, but over time it has gotten easier to use, while still maintaining a secure seal.) A 2oz ingredient cap allows you to add ingredients or ice while machine is in use.
The Ultra Power Base with five speeds for practically every blending need. The speeds levels are STIR, CHOP, MIX, PUREE, LIQUIFY. It also has a pulse feature, which works with every speed level. The base is smooth and rounded and extremely easy to keep clean. The buttons are touch-pad type, so they can easily be wiped down for effortless cleaning. This base is heavy-duty (the feet even have non-slip pads) and will not slip on your counter, even if the jar is filled.
The Stainless Steel Blades, are great because they are not to sharp to handle, while still blending your food with ease. The blades are bent which Kitchen Aid says provides optimal blending. I dont know if its because of the bent blades or not, but I do know that this machine will blend just about anything.
Also included with this purchase, is the instruction manual/recipe guide. It is very handy and has some pretty good recipes included. It will guide you step-by-step (including pictures) for practically everything you might need to use the machine for.
Topics Include:

Kitchen Aid offers a One Year Full Warranty from the date of purchase on the 5-Speed Ultra Power Blender. If the unit fails within the first year of ownership, theyll deliver a replacement right to your door and have your original blender returned to them. The new machine would be covered under its own one year warranty.
Overall Feelings:
Ease of Use: Very Good. It doesnt get any easier than this machine.
Durability: Excellent. It is heavy duty and very well made. Kitchen Aid is known for this. This small appliance will last a lifetime.
Ease of Cleaning: Very Good. The base is cleaned easily because of its smooth lines. The glass jar can go straight into the dishwasher.
