One of you smaller achievements (Reply to this comment)
by bermudabum
Sue,
With the many other things I personally know you for, I must say that even with as wonderful an achievement in understanding you have reached here, it is surely not your greatest. You have come a long way since we met and you have much to be proud of, not just with regards to weight control. Keep your chin up, keep smiling and remember the worlds is not so little as we once believed it.

Great advice. Maybe even life-saving advice for many. Thanks for sharing your experiences and valuable information and insight on a very critical subject (particularly for teenage to mid-thirties women). Bless you and take care of yourself.

...and I believe that the weight struggle is the toughest one of all. I've quit drinking (almost 12 years ago now) and I've quit smoking ( a little over a year ago)....I had at one point, gotten down to a great weight for me....but managed to put the weight back on...ugh, it is a never ending problem!
Keep up the great writing, and thank you so much for sharing your story....kath

My doctor did me a great favor... (Reply to this comment)

...when she explained (at the beginning of my decision to lose weight) that weight can take as long to lose as it did to gain in the first place. Since it took me 8 years to put on the extra 55 pounds, that meant that I could only be pleasantly surprised if it came off faster, and I was mentally prepared for the idea that it might not. If she hadn't told me that, I'm not sure I would have done nearly as well as I have (30 down... 15 to go... I'm being smart and realizing that my ideal weight 8 years ago is not my ideal weight today, and that 10 extra pounds is about right).
I wish you much good luck and all the best with your own struggle!

"Self confidence, is the twin brother of success!"
This was wonderful, thank you for writing it. We need to counteract all the advertising with the truth! Thanks for commenting on my latest piece. It is hard to write such personal things, but one cannot save face and azz at the same time.)
