While searching for a DVD Recorder I found the model I wanted at Beach Camera for what appears to be a good price.
I was ready to buy when I decided I'd better check their policy.
First off, they publish no "Store" location. If they are truly a store why are they hiding the info. An "800" number is provided however, most of us know the type of information available from an "800" operator.
Second, in the return policy I see there is a 10% to 20% restocking fee for all opened boxes. I wonder, how does a person determine if there is something damaged or missing without opening the box. Also, while I can guess at the reason for the difference between a 10% and 20% restocking fee it sure leaves the charge open for their choice. Can you imagine paying over $100 (20%)in restocking fees for an item that is not satisfactory!
Last, The return policy, once approved by them, is only 15 days but, while this is the time frame they mention at the beginning of the paragraph they follow it up with another statement at the bottom of the same paragraph saying the return policy is "10 DAYS".
While the price quoted was very good I will opt for another dealer with a slightly higher price who appears to be more reputable.
