Epinions maintains its presence on the web, but will it persevere in the land of doom? Think carefully before counting on receiving funds when posting online!

As always, insightful and honest. Bravo!

I've heard a lot of "end times" predictions around this site and on the message boards lately. I tend to agree with the camp that says Epinions will only deflate if a lot of its more valuable members give up on it. I wasn't happy with the change, but I'm sticking it out. Hey, this review was the first Email alert I got now that they've supposedly been back up for over a week. So things are slowly getting back to normal around here.

I'm approaching fifty bucks... looks like it may be time for my first cashout. Thanks for the advice.

I'm sitting here laughing my head off at the "Want to save electricity? Turn off a light!" idea. I can't say I'm surprised really. One thing that turned me off (no pun intended..rofl) about that site was how they had the top ten list set up so that the people who submitted the most ideas in a certain week got on there. And there would be people submitting 300 to 500 ideas a week to get up there. So it's no surprise that most of what got submitted was sh!t. LOL well my modem's going AWOL so I should probably hurry up and submit this before my connection goes with it. See ya later~

I started writing there because epinions no longer had the editorials I liked. I then discovered I liked to write poetry etc. I have $55 in my account. Not a fortune, but you know what it takes to get 2cents there..a lot of work. I'm angry. Thanks for writing. Great job Jo

I'll be sorry to see Themestream go. (Reply to this comment)

I never did get around to writing for it, but I had thought about it, especially when Epinions was being updated. I completely agree with you though and always cash out when I get a little over the $10 in earnings. Why leave it here so that I risk it being taken away!

Since these two sites changed their policies, I have lost about $28 total from their policy change.

Because of that I have a different strategy for cashing out here at Epinions. I used to wait and do this once a month after the Income share. However, I have changed my mind and now charge out as soon as I can after $10 hits.

You are welcome, and thank you for the comment! Obviously this editorial was well worth the time! It helped at least one person - you - retreive what they needed prior to the site disappearing!

Best of luck!

I didn't know so many different versions of the epinions concept had been in the offing lately! Thanks for the article, it reminds me how lucky I am to still be with a system that works!

Thanks for the URL. I'll read that article at Washington Post tomorrow. (My eye lids are rejecting the boss....)

NBC is still keeping the old site, but it seems they suspended updating the files sometime around mid January. The same things seem to have happened to Lycos.

By the way, since I enrolled this site at the very end of the last century, I don't know well. But other partner sites such as iwon.com are the common knowledge here? I found a couple of more partner sites, and thinking about if I should write something on this.

Hi,
I went over and read your epinion. It is excellent. I don't understand why the attacks were thrown.

Let the record show the additions I made in your comments -- they will support your thought pattern.

Personally, I am going to cash in more frequently. I don't think we should run for redeem like the roof is caving in ... that is not the case. But, I would tend to think that cashing out at a lower figure is better for us and Epinions.

Thank you for the comments!

I agree -- if you are told the money will be yours ... it needs to be!

I feel so bad for my online pal that is losing 1000. with themestream. The real sad point is that he donates all of the money made to charity.

Hi,
Thanks for the comments.

I *think* Epinions will be the mainstay of the write for $$$ programs. They are superior (in my opinion) in the navigation arena, they have updated, and so forth.

However.... the online industry as a whole is struggling. That, in my opinion, will be the determining factor.

I have been using "paid for" programs of all types for over a year. Many paid up..many paid just in the beginning...a lot didn't pay at all. I am a firm believer of...if I sign up with you..and do what is asked..I WANT MY MONEY!! I also believe in cashing out as soon as you reach the cashout limit. Just like you said..get the money while you can..because when these sites go..it is poof..overnight and most times, without a letter like Themestream sent!

For the person that asked...Themestream and BrightIdea are two different sites. And I DO believe BrightIdea will be next..and soon. Only with them, you can't cash out anymore..they arent sending any more checks until the end of June..that is..if the site is still there then!!

Goodbye Themestream! (Reply to this comment)
by Misticke
I couldn't believe the email I got today from Themestream. I just got into writing there while Epinions was updating. I had about $2.00 there so I'm not really losing anything, but now I am curious to see if Epinions will eventually do the same. I usually don't collect money until the holidays, but now I wonder if I shouldn't cash in earlier. Epinions seems to be going strong, and has tons of members so I don't see it happening any time soon. But....ya never know!

I didn't know these two sites until a week or two ago. And I feel I was very lucky. And I'm sorry for your bad experience.

As for the second last paragraph, I agree with you. Actually, I wrote similar review, and published. But, for some strange reasons, I received a lot of unfavorable comments. Most of them accused me that I was pushing panic run. Maybe you will also receive that kind of comments, though I hope not.
