| johnndenvr2004's Full Review: 2004 Ford F150 SuperCab 4WD |
I had outgrown the towing and payload capacity of my 99 Ranger SuperCab 4x4, and had been considering upgrading to a full size pickup. My friend just bought a Titan, but surprisingly told me, he had seriously considered a new F-150 with all the improvements. So on Saturday, I decided to go have a look at a dealer. The test drive floored me, this was the best ride'n / handle'n truck I have ever driven, period. Let alone a 4x4 version.
I test drove both a 5.4L equipped SuperCab, and the 4.6L equipped RegularCab STX version. I found the motors to be surprisingly equal in performance, but then found out that the XTS version I test drove had a nice upgraded gear ratio. And with the RegularCab having much more room than previous year models, I found it had about the same amount of room behind the seat as my Supercab Ranger, and a ton more room in general. Both trucks rode and handled better than any truck I have previously driven ever. I ended up with a great deal on this XTS version and they gave me much more for my Ranger than I ever expected, so in short I ended up driving it off the lot.
The test drive is going to sell a ton of these, I didn't say all to much about it and let my friend drive it, that right away had starting asking me questions like...
"Did you look at the Ram's?" ect..ect..ect..
During the test drive, he stated the same exact thing, that it was the best truck 4x4 or otherwise he had ever driven, so there was no more questioning the choice after he drove it at all. Once they offered me $8k for my beat to heck 99 4x4 Supercab Ranger, there was no turning back for me.
Pros: Price Paid $23K (Supposedly a special "big" sale)
Lincoln Town car ride and feel, and interior comfort.
Real impressive power even in the smaller 4.6L V8 Titan motor.
Excellent Fuel ecconomy given the performance specs.
Slick sportier than but similar Super Duty exterior style
17" Wheels (STX version) 31" Tires (STX version)
Smooth mechanical 4x4 engage system
Super Duty Tow and Payload specs without the SuperDuty Price
.9% Ford Motor Credit financing
PS: Anybody considering a Titan, GMC, Chevy, Toyota, Ram, or anything else, owes it to themselves to test drive one of these bad boys. I'll lay odds if you do, your going to drive away with one.
