| videogamzrulz's Full Review: Nintendo GameCube Controller for GameCube, Game Bo... |
No, a Wavebird is not a bird, it is a gamecube controller. This controller gives you serious freedom. Why? Because its wireless!
Here's how it works: where you usually plug in the cord of a controller to, plug in the rectangular receiver that comes with it. Then just set the channels and you're ready to play.
This controller is great. It fits comfortly in your hands, and the battery pack goes almost unnoticeable. Oh, that brings us to the not-go-good part about this controller. It needs two AA batteries. That wouldn't be bad if you didn't forget to shut off the controller when you're done with it. That wastes about...six hours of batteries, at least. Yes, there is an expertly designed swich in the middle of the controller that is very subtle. Everything else is basicly the same as a regular Nintendo controller, (except a battery pack).
Don't get me wrong: the controller's great. Its range is amazing - I did a test. I left a game on pause, walked away from the TV, had someone watch the screen to see how good the range was. Well, I jogged down the block and my sister informed me that it was still working! If you have more than one Wavebird, then the receivers might get mixed up, right? Nope. You can set the channels on the bottom of the controller and the bottom of the reciever to some number other then your friend's. There are 16 channels.
The thing I'm dissapointed in is there's no rumble feature included. Many of the games out for gamecube support rumble, and it's a bummer to not have it built in.
This thing is durable! The onlt weak point is the battery pack - you wouldn't want something in there to break.
Bottom Line
Great job, Nintendo. This is what I like to see.
