Well, the GeForce3 is technically available right now (for pre-order), but not much fanfare has been made yet, probably due to the high prices! Pre-orders for most of the more 'well-known' companies (such as Elsa) ring in at over $500! ALL GeForce3's have an ETA (on Pricewatch) of mid-May, meaning that late May would be an excellent time to buy a well-known brand name GeForce2 GTS for about $150, or as you suggest, you could also buy a lesser-known GeForce2 GTS for about $100. As to the GeForce2 MX, unless its prices get slashed down to $50 for a well-known company, it won't be nearly as popular.

I believe that the GeForce2 MX will, at least by this summer, be in the price range of the current TNT2's. Since NVidia originally planned for the MX to take over the TNT2's position, this seems likely, but the MX has been slow to move down in price. Whereas the GTS's have come down over $100 and the Ultra's have come down almost $200, the MX has come down less than $50. It's still more than affordable, but not really recommended for those who can afford to move up to a GTS. A cheaper Powercolor or Leadtek GeForce2 GTS has twice the memory bandwidth, twice the number of pipelines, a faster GPU, and less than twice the price! Now that's value!

It's a great time to be PC gaming :)

Great article, very in depth. I'm in the market for a graphics card myself. I'm waiting for the Geforce3 to come out so that the GeForce2 GTS goes down in price. I'd rather not spend $150 when I can (hopefully) get it in 2 weeks for $100!
