The Bottom Line: All PC's fail, guaranteed. The difference between manufacturers is in the Warranty. Nobody can beat 24/7 phone support with next business day, on-site repair for hardware.

| scottknight's Full Review: Dell Latitude CPx H500GT |
I am an IT tech for a large company (5k+ employees) who provides IT outsourcing for other companies. We are exclusive users of Dell (and make that recommendation to all our customers), and our mobile solution includes the Dell Latitude CPx series. Though the unit is larger an heavier than its PII 366 predecessor, it is a great unit. They are as reliable as any other PC, the difference comes in the Warranty service. Dell offers a next business day, on-site warranty service. That means if I call in on Monday because my sound quit working, or the display went out, Dell will send a tech out on Tuesday to install new parts in my machine. As an IT professional, that is vital. My users are seldom down for longer than 24 hours. In addition to the great warranty Dell offers, the PC is well equipped. The screen is comparable in size to a 15" CRT, and can handle up to 1024x768 24 bit resolution, and you have a choice of pointers. Laptops have always been difficult to use because of the mouse options. Some of our users like touch pads and others like the "eraser" pointer in the middle of the keyboard. This laptop offers both. With a few clicks or keystrokes you can switch from one to the other, or enable both if you choose. The options bay can house any of several devices, CDROM, DVD, standard floppy, the new LS-120 (a 120mb floppy disk), or a second battery enabling up to 6.4 hours of use, for those long flights. The docking station from any of the Latitude C series, starting from the Pentium 166 is fully compatible, making upgrading a little easier on the wallet.
