We booked a supposed four-star hotel in Santa Fe, NM in January, 2004. Priceline said "Our Deluxe 4 Star hotels offer beautifully furnished guest rooms and additional amenities to make your stay more comfortable. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotel's in-house restaurant or call down for extended hour in-room dining. A concierge desk, business services, and a fitness center are also available.
We were put in a basement-type room with hideous, cheap furniture, dirty rugs and bedspread, broken water faucet, ineffective heater and the stench of Pinesol (I guess we should have felt lucky about the latter). There was no food at 9 p.m., no business services, no fitness center. It was dark and depressing.
Think the trip insurance we paid $15 for would cover us leaving early? No, read the fine print before you buy it. You must be treated by a doctor for a NEW illness, die or disappear with no trace of the body for one year.
I have asked Priceline for a refund and gotten no help on it whatsoever.
