Affordable Luxury

Pros: Appealing price tag. Smooth ride. Smooth shifting transmission. Lots of legroom. Plenty of torque.

Cons: Rear seats headroom is lacking.

The Bottom Line: For a great price tag for the quality of vehicle I highly recommend this luxury car.

haltermans's Full Review: 2004 Toyota Avalon
A quick introduction to my reviews: I will not go into the details of the looks of a car unless it made a lasting impression or is a dramatically new. It is my strong belief that when it comes to the looks of a vehicle that my opinion of what is ‘in’ and what is ‘out’ does not matter as much as what you feel will make your driving more pleasurable. The look of all vehicles is highly customizable or can just as easily be driven as is from the dealer lot. Also, keep in mind that a picture will always be worth a thousand words. Each manufacturer provides 3-D views of their vehicles to get an initial glimpse on their respective web sites. Then you can always take a look, feel and drive at the dealer lot.

THE REVIEW:
A luxury car without the luxurious price tag that will keep your interested and comfortable.

I drove the Avalon XLS in a diamond white peal with the ivory available leather trim package and wood trim. The interior options and look is sure to please.

Other packages included the anti-lock breaks with power assistance as well as electronic break force distribution. The 3.0-liter 24-valve DOHC WI-i V6 provided plenty of power.

THE DRIVE:
I was very pleased with the quick acceleration and strong responsiveness. Just as fast as it accelerated the breaking was quick and well under control. The Avalon did not mind taking sharp curves at well over the speed limit and at the same time remain under good control. Slow or fast the smooth ride is sure to please the most critical of riders for this nicely prices vehicle. I could drive this car for hours at a time without losing interest. Handling was excellent.

While testing the breaking and acceleration the Avalon’s transmission did not have trouble with smooth shifting and the gears on target. Response time for the transmission was excellent; I am loving the Toyota ECT-i transmission.

I am five feet eleven and the when sitting-up in the rear seat my head touched the low interior. However, plenty of legroom for everyone on board and their cargo.
