I have been a AAA member for well over 5 years now and am greatly satisfied by their service both online and offline. They are always very pleasant to deal with. When it comes to their website, I have experience at navigating it and then also at ordering items such as trip-tiks and maps from it.
When ordering a TripTik you basically fill in what city you are leaving from and the city you are going to and they will send you a TripTik package with the route of directions included. This package has their normal TripTik items (gas mileage and expense tracking sheet, reminder list of things you may want to do before leaving, list of things to have handy on vacation, etc). The only difference between this way of ordering a TripTik and going to the local AAA office is that it seems to be done electronically. So all of the personally stamped "construction" zones are not on there. I am not so sure this is a big deal because most people won't bother finding a route around the construction zone anyway. Plus, if you are traveling in the later part of the year (if you are in the Midwest, Northern, or Eastern part of the states) the construction zones will probably not be active anyway. You can also order maps along with your TripTik which are all sent together. I have always received these within one to two weeks no matter how many maps or TripTiks I order. I usually order map for each state we are driving through, a regional map, and big city maps we may stop at or drive thru (mainly in case we have to take a detour ... which are not always too clearly marked).
The website also tells of different services offered by AAA. Such as insurance, financial services (traveler's checks and more), discounts which members receive, and specials. Also I am sure you will be able to find some driving tips and statistics and so forth.
The discounts range from restaurants, to auto stores, to tickets for sports and other events. Some are fairly good deals. We went to a sports game back around November and it was 50% off because of the AAA card. Great deal!!!
They have never missed anything I ordered and have always sent it in a very timely manner. Sure for a two person membership you pay a little over $100 a year but the service you get is well worth it. Especially if you end of having to use the towing or getting your keys out of your locked car services. It is very well worth it.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who does traveling whether for work or pleasure.
