I have been a NetFlix customer for just over 2 weeks so I will admit that I have just surpassed my trial period, but I am LOVING it. I have been using local rental stores for rentals and have found them to be expensive, lacking in selection, and a hassle with different rental period lengths. All of these problems have been resolved with NetFlix.
I don't remember how I came across NetFlix, but I am sure glad that I did. I went to the website and signed up for the free trial (fully intending, if I had a bad experience, to cancel my membership). I looked for some movies that I wanted to see and queued them up for rental (on a Wednesday). They were shipped the next day (Thursday) and I received them the second day after ordering (Friday). I watched those movies (one on Friday night and two on Saturday) and got them back to my mailbox before to go out Saturday PM.
My movies were received on Monday and my next selections were received by Tuesday. This has continued on a 2-3 day rotation since I started.
I live north of Seattle and the nearest NetFlix center is in Tacoma (2 hours away). The mail service has really made this service so great for me. I can mail a movie at my post office before their 5:30 pm cutoff and NetFlix receives my movies by 7:00 am the next day. That is overnight service from the USPS, I am impressed.
I like the NetFlix website and how easy it is rate movies. The NetFlix website works best when you rate movies that you have seen. Rated movies gives NetFlix the ability to recommend movies to you based on movies you have rated highly. Recommendations come slowly in the beginning when you have not rated many movies, but the more you rate, the more recommendations NetFlix is able to give. I have enjoyed getting more recommendations as I am taking opportunities to rent more varied movies. So far I have had no problem with availability and have had no delays in shipping.
I will admit and concede that I rent many vaired movies and I tend not to seek the latest releases. I have been using NetFlix to rent those movies that I missed along the way, foreign movies that I would normally NOT have run across, and some older films that I just never had the opportunity to see.
I like NetFlix for its frequent e-mail messages keeping me appraised of the receipt and shipping of the DVDs we are exchanging. I would hope, in time, that NetFlix would be able to consolidate e-mails into, perhaps, 1 message that notifies you the receipt and shipping of the next DVD (this is currently done with two messages and could be done with one message.
At this point, especially with NetFlix declaring a quarterly loss yesterday, I feel like I am getting a really good deal, I am renting 3 to 6 movies a week for $5 a week. That is WAY too good a deal that I would be more than willing to pay another $5 or $10 a month for. The current price is $20 a month and is a very, very good deal!!
Sorry if I have not had enough bad stuff to say, but I truly have no complaints about NetFlix!!
