How bout them cons (Reply to this comment)
by mkaresh, in Cars & Motorsports
This comment follows the one on your Tib review. I got snowed into ignoring the Tib's faults. I think the same happened to you here with the SE-R. You note all of the same faults I did, and in helpfully descriptive detail (I especially like you're use of "plasticky" to accurately describe the shifter feel--I might have to borrow that usage), but then you don't really care.
For me, the torque steer made this car thoroughly unenjoyable. I couldn't truly evaluate the steering feel because it was so thoroughly compromised. The plasticky shifter feel also didn't help.
For a college student, your priorities are surprisingly mature. The typical college kid cares only about the numbers. But it's really about how the car feels, isn't it?
Interesting that your top choices are such radically different cars. The RSX and SE-R are the most refined and least refined cars in the class, respectively. Also, the SE-R's chassis cannot handle the torque of its engine, while the RSX's engine doesn't generate enough torque to make torque steer a potential issue. Any chance you're suffering from split personality disorder? Or do you just want to have your cake (driving enjoyment) and eat it too (refinement)?
Well, I'll try to read a few more. It's refreshing to find such descriptive reviews. Your word choices are so often spot-on. Keep it up.
