| haltermans's Full Review: 2004 Toyota Celica GT |
A quick introduction to my reviews: I am new to the area of reviewing vehicles. I will mostly do Toyota, JEEP, and Volkswagen. Please, help me help you by letting me know how my reviews meet or fail to meet your expectations.
I will not go into the details of the looks of a vehicle unless it made a lasting impression or is a dramatically different. It is my strong belief that when it comes to the looks of a vehicle that my opinion of what is in and what is out does not matter as much as what you feel will make your driving more pleasurable. And that if you did not like the look of the vehicle you are reading up on you would not waste your time in doing so.
The look of all vehicles is customizable or can just as easily be driven as is from the dealer lot. Also, keep in mind that a picture will always be worth a thousand words. Each manufacturer provides 3-D views of their vehicles to get an initial glimpse that will be worth much more than what any review has to say. Then you can always look, feel and drive at your local dealer.
THE VEHICLE
With a 1.8L DOHC 16-valve SEFI 4 cylinder VVT-i engine the 2-door GT liftback 4-speed automatic ECT makes a great little sports car with 140 horse power at 6,400 RPM.
FIRST CONTACT
I am five feet eleven weighing in at 170lbs and sitting in the 6-way adjustable sports seats I felt I should not get any bigger while safe, secure and comfortable. I would not expect many third passengers in this vehicle.
The instrument panel is easily accessible without even a minor shift in the drivers seat. The interior is very stylish and has a modern open air feel to its design always keeping in mind a sports feel.
The rear cargo area is very spacious and can easily expand with the rear seats folded to a capacity of 16.9 cubic feet.
THE DRIVE
Toyota racing on the American highway. The stylish sporty fast looks of this vehicle do not let you down; dress to impress.
The Celica handled great with its low profile sports design and ample torque. Transmission control and smoothness could not have been any better. While shifting with precision and smoothness and the engine announces that you are driving a great sports car eager to get on the highway. As I approached the winding road I accelerated and took the curves with ease. Breaking at a fast turn the car handled very well.
Do not want to stop but must? Even without the ABS optional package the power-assisted ventilated rear drum breaks will help achieve a secure stop.
Wind noise was minimal and the expected road noise from a car of its class is present.
FINAL WORDS
Just sitting in the sports seats make you want to go fast. Remember to always follow safe driving habits and arrive at your destination.
