The Bottom Line Each of us must decide for ourselves why we write for Epinions. Only then will we truly understand the impact that the rate decrease will have upon us.
I just finished reading an opinion that was written by shockwave180 entitled, It's the economy, stupid!(http://www.epinions.com/content_1315283076#ow) and wanted to submit my own reply to Epinions rate decrease! Personally I think that such a decrease makes a lot of sense. Shockwave180 hit upon a lot of logical points for this decrease. My own thoughts are that we might have to stop being so money hungry if we really want Epinions to be around for a while. I'd really hate to loose both Epinions and Themestream! That would leave internet authors almost nowhere to go. Although I must say that Webseed (http://www.webseedpublishing.com) is doing a great job so far, even though the money is slow. Which brings me to my next thought... When people start to realize that the money will be tightened there will be a lot more high quality writing and a lot less trash. Personally I haven't had time to write at Epinions for a while but that was due to my choices as to where my time would be best spent. Nevertheless, I've also come to the realization over this past month that if I don't write I'll wilt and thus I will continue to write regardless of the money. In fact, I'm actually writing for a few sites for free at the moment just to get traffic to all my other sites and I'm happy. So in all reality I think that each of us needs to decide our reasons for writing. If we're only in it for the money then maybe it's time to move onto off line markets, but if we're truly happy then the money really won't matter much to us. Sorry if this sounded preachy!!! I really didn't mean to... I'm just speaking from my own experience in hopes of helping others 8-)  |
