Of all my appliances in the kitchen, this goes on the practical list. I never understood why cereal companies didnt just put their cereal in containers like these. I do know why, of course, the cost. But wouldnt it be great to have cereal bought in a container like this if the containers werent so expensive?
MY EXPERIENCE(s):
I purchased 3 13-cup Tupperware cereal storers about a year ago, but not at the same time. I got all of them in black (black lid) because Im a freak about matching my appliances. These cereal containers also come in blue and hunter green (lids).
Assuming that I would only use my containers for cereal, I left all 3 of my cereal storers in the kitchen, until I realized how great theyd be for my bunnys (Thumpers) food. Now I use one of these cereal containers to keep my bunnys food nice and fresh, and I use another one for her yogie treats. Its so convenient because I can just pour her food and treats right into her dish without messing with the generic wrapping or the cardboard box her treats come in. Thumper really appreciates this kind gesture=) Sometimes I think she has a blast watching me struggle to open the darn bunny food bags. Either that or shes just anxious to get her food and thinks Im an idiot. LOL! The third cereal storer is used for my favorite cereal, the only cereal I eat, Captain Crunch. Yum!
THUMPERS THOUGHTS: (lol)
My treats taste much fresher, and my dried strawberries, much fruitier. Its about time!
PROS:
-When youre traveling, your cereal box can smash underneath your other food. This Tupperware container WONT!
-Its durable and look-wise, a winner!
-Great for spill-prone children
-Dishwasher safe
-Warranty item (ie. Replaceable if broken)
-A good house-warming gift
-You can find your cereal box prizes much quicker (container is clear)!!!!
-Name brand has been around for decades
CONS:
-You may forget how old your cereal (or bunny food, lol, etc) is if you dont label your cereal storer. Youll assume its fresh and forget to check up on those things!
-Price. I paid about $15 for mine. Yes, Im nuts. There are cheaper, similar containers out there but I had to match all of mine because Im a dork.
USES:
-Cereal, pet food, NERDS© Candy (because theyre small and pour out), other small candy, cookies, nuts/peanuts, bath crystals, cotton balls, sugar, rice, and other things that you can pour out.
NOT SO GOOD USES:
-Liquid (because the opening is too big and the drink will fly out), oreo cookies (theyll get stuck at the opening), big chocolate chip cookies (same thing), or anything else too large for the opening.
CONTAINER TECHNICALITIES:
Size: 8 ¾H x 4.5 W x 8 7/8L (bout the size of a cereal box, a lil wider)
Sold at: Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Osco, Sav-On, Walgreens, the Container Store.
