After having lived in our current home for over four years now I have noticed that most of our closets really needed a good cleaning. Along with cleaning out these closets and sorting through to decide which items I should keep or dispose of, I decided that it was also the best time to organize those items I was keeping. Let’s just say that Wal-Mart has reaped from this decision as I seem to be making purchases of organizational items from them on a weekly basis!
One of my most recent organizational purchases has been the Sterilite Ultra White Drawer 1802. When I glanced up on the shelves and saw this unit I knew that it would be the perfect size for some of those items in my daughter’s closet.
~ Why did I choose this particular drawer? ~
I knew that the Sterilite Ultra White Drawer 1802 would be perfect for my daughter’s closet for several reasons.
Size; the measurements of this drawer are 14 1/8 x 8 7/8 x 6 ¼. It is a nice size for my eight-year-old daughter to handle when taking these drawers out of her closet to play with the items inside. My daughter has several Polly Pocket play sets that were just sitting inside her closet one on top of the other. With the purchase of these drawers (I own several.) she can now carry these items easier and I have a neater looking closet. We both win!
Stackable; when I decide to organize I like things to stay organized. I knew that if I just bought one large storage container for my daughter she would have to surf through all the items inside to find that one item she was looking for. With these drawers I have found that they are large enough to store several of her play sets in one drawer. For several weeks now she has kept these drawers nice and neat and places the items right back into the drawer she found them in. Yes, she is keeping things organized!
In regards to these drawers being stackable, this is a feature I really like. When you look at the top of each drawer you can see some grooved edges. According to the Sterilite web site, “The drawer units interlock to prevent stacked units from tipping when drawers are pulled open.” We have found that these drawers stack quite nicely on top of one another. I have also noticed that my daughter is able to carry two of these drawers at the same time with no problems. It is good to know that these drawers can be stacked together and move easily.
Is it hard to stack these drawers? No way! You basically set them right on top of one another. The bottom of one drawer fits into the grooves of the others top. Make sense? There are no additional parts needed to stack these drawers together that could become easily broken off. (For example, a hinged locking mechanism.)
Appearance; I really like the appearance of these drawers. The majority of this drawer is made of a white plastic, which is not transparent. However, the front of the drawer (It might be easier to look at the photo image above to understand my description.) and the rest of the drawer itself is made out of a plastic that is transparent (clear) in color. The handle on this drawer is gray (silver) in color and is easy enough for both my daughter and I to latch onto when needed.
With the transparent (clear) fronts on these drawers we have a pretty good idea of what items are stored inside. There currently is a Sterilite product sticker on the face of this drawer (underneath the handle). I may one of these days peel off the label and take a permanent marker and label what items are inside.

I am pleased to say that I have found another Sterilite product that was a purchase well made. For under $5.00, I have found the Sterilite Ultra White Drawer 1802 to be a great solution for some of my organizational needs. This drawer is nice looking in appearance and seems to be quite durable and functional. I am quite certain that during my ongoing quest of organizing the closets in my house I will find many other uses for this particular drawer. Right off hand I think that it would be great for my daughter’s markers, colored pencils, etc that we keep stored in the downstairs closet.
And by the way… just an FYI… all Sterilite products are made in the good old United States of American.!
