Pros: let's see....free phones at the time.
Cons: very bad coverage area, misleading reps, very bad customer support, "don't care" attitude.
The Bottom Line: They are here to make money and they will make money. They will find any excuse to collect money.

| yannick's Full Review: SunCom Mobile Phone Service in Newport News/Norfol... |
We got Suncom at the Sam's Club of Newport News Va. 2 years ago. After a few months, we decided to change the plan to better suit our need. It turned out that after that, we had barely no coverage at our home with it, and when we went out, just having the phone in the pocket would bring the service to "partner" and roaming charges applied when received calls.
We decided to terminate the service, and we learned that the contract rolled over the first year, so we were stuck with Suncom for another year.
Comes the second year, and we decide to switch to Verizon. I called between 30 and 60 days like Suncom recommended, to schedule the end of service at the end of the contract. I called several time since to confirm that they validated my request.
So at that time, Suncom and me know that the contracted was being cancelled on January 26. In the mean time, we got a contract with verizon, and verizon ported our numbers assuring that Suncom could not charge us cancellation fees, since the contract termination was scheduled.
So, January 8th was the date the porting was completed, and the date Suncom bills us $400 for early termination fee.
The thing about porting the number to another provider is that the Suncom contract has to be active. So it seems like whatever you do, porting the number will be shown as an early termination, even when the termination was planned and scheduled, and I kept paying the monthly payment.
I feel like Suncom is the one that terminated the contract by billing me $400.
I emailed customer service with no response. 2 months later I get calls from Suncom asking me to pay.
A complain to the FCC has been filed 2 months ago when it happened.
And 2 years ago, when we signed the contract with Suncom, porting the number did not exist. So, I did not sign anything about having to be penalized if I port the number to another company.
I don't feel that I am responsible for that.
