Don't Buy Sony Ericsson (Reply to this comment)
by ajkeyh247
I bought my Sony Ericsson T610 eight weeks ago and have been severely disappointed with it.

First of all, the build quality is unbelievably low. Like many people I keep my mobile in my back pocket (I always have done since getting my first mobile back in 1996).

The T610 however, is unable to deal with this. I have had problems hearing the ring when people call me or send me messages and have had to turn on the vibrating alert (the first phone on which I've ever needed this).

Another "back pocket" problem is that the numbers printed on the keys have already worn off a number of keys. The outer case also has worn very badly. My eight week old phone now looks like it's at least five years old!

I should point out that whilst the back pocket may not be the best place to keep a phone, I've never experienced such wear with any other phone in the past. This kind of wear after only eight weeks is very poor.

The even bigger problem : There seems to be a huge problem with the T610 which many people are suffering with. The black softkeys and power button stop working. This is a huge problem and really crowns the quality of the T610.

After taking it to our local service centre, they said it was a known issue (and a lot of people had the same problem). My phone is now on it's way to Sony Ericsson and I won't see it for at least a month (I guess because of the queue of T610's, and possibly other models, awaiting repair).

I am a software engineer involved with the telecoms industry and I have used many brands of phone in my work. If you want a high quality, reliable phone, go for Nokia - they really are the best. I've owned a number of Nokia phones and have never been disappointed (the 6310i and 6610 were absolutely fantastic). I've had problems with other Sony Ericsson phones (the T39m and T300).

I'll never even think of buying a Sony Ericsson phone again - I'll definitely be sticking with Nokia from now on.

Great review. I thought you did a good job on the discription. I read a review the other day that had only 3 lines about how it worked it was pretty lousy.

Thanks for sharing.
