| WhiteZX2Sport's Full Review: Aiwa NSX-HMT76 Digital Mini Theater System |
I have owned many mini-system stereos in the past (SONY, Panasonic), and, based on my experiences AIWA offers the best sound and quality for the price.
Sound Quality:
The best thing about this system is it's powerful amplifier. The two main speakers are each rated at 100 watts, the center surround sound speaker is 34 watts, and the satellite surround speakers are 33 watts a piece. Furthermore, the system also includes a separate 50 watts self amplified subwoofer. This is a great addition because the subwoofer delivers substantial bass without having to put a strain on the main speakers, and a separate subwoofer is necessary for a true DVD experience. The voices and instruments are very clear, with powerful bass that is not only heard but felt. Furthermore, even at a higher volume setting the sounds do not get distorted.
Sound Adjustment Controls:
There are five preset graphic equalizer setting (rock, pop, etc.), and you also have the ability to make your own preset equalizer setting. The T-Bass has three setting, and the BBE system, which clarifies high frequency sounds, has three setting also. The surround sound mode has five setting (Disco, Movie, etc.).
Features:
This stereo has a great number of features, and the ones that matter to me might not interest you, but I will list the ones I feel are most important. The 3-CD changer allows program play, repeat play, and shuffle. The CD player also plays a CD while two others can be changed. There is a digitally tuned radio with 32 presets. The tape decks are both auto-reverse and have the ability to dub tapes at high speed. The tape decks also feature a smart recording system for dubbing CDs to tapes, this feature allows you to know how many songs will fit on the tape. This AIWA also has Dolby Pro Logic surround sound for use with the television, and there is a Jog Dial control for quick and easy access to many of the features.
Remote Control:
The remote is large and has a quality look and feel to it. It contains many buttons, but they are simple to understand and easy to execute. Furthermore, the remote also allows direct access to CD tracks, a nice feature.
Inputs:
This AIWA has some very useful input jacks. There are the standard fare Left/Right audio inputs, but, more importantly, are the 5.1 Channel Analog inputs for Dolby Digital which means this system is optimized for connection to a DVD player with a digital decoder built in, very important for a home theater.
Overall:
This system has awesome sound. It's built well, my last AIWA is still working great and I handed it down to my brother when I got this one. Moreover, it's a value that can't be beat.
