Last year for my birthday, my catalog shopping daughter gave me a Spiegel Corset Top because I had complained of feeling "old". Believe me, a sexy little top that is as eye catching as this one is is guaranteed to make anyone feel more youthful.
I am okay with the fact that I will be turning forty-four years old in a few days, but I don't appreciate that my waistline has grown along with my age. I pulled out my Corset Top and put it on again to recapture the feeling that I felt at this time last year. It still fit perfectly, snug and beautifully. Perhaps I need to give up eating chocolate ice cream every night so it'll still fit next year!!
When my daughter first suggested that I look into buying myself a waist thinning corset I told her that I was too old for such a thing. So she did the next best thing and gave me a very special self-esteem boosting gift in this Corset Top. She knew I'd only wear it if it looked classy. This top is slinky yet tasteful, glamorous but not trashy. And, wearing it was an entirely different story.
I am happy to say that the Spiegel Corset Top truly does give me the look of a more youthful tighter figure. I wore it underneath my flannel shirt to test it for comfort and restraint before wearing it out to dinner for this year's birthday.
~First Impressions~
When I first took my lightweight, special occasion elegant Corset Top from the packaging, I think I blushed. I held it up to me and wondered if all of me would fit into such a small top! I did enjoy the feel of the material on my skin and couldn't wait to try it on.
The material that this top is made of is nylon and spandex; two very stretchy materials. I fit into it and boy what a fit! I liked the sleek sexy design, with the skin hugging spandex enhancing my over forty body. Not bad! First impressions were great. I still feel the same way about my cute black top.
~The Fit~
My Spiegel Corset Top fits me like it was designed especially for me! For something that firmly holds me in, there isn't any great restraint while driving, eating, or moving about my house. The side zipper did not cut into me at all while vacuuming or picking up after my granddaughter.
The spaghetti straps are thin and soft, not terribly uncomfortable, although I would have preferred a looser fit. Doing push-ups and lifting weights have increased the size of my upper arm muscles and deltoids so I adjusted the straps as much as I could.
The built in bra seemed to lift and enhance my bust line; an added plus. It's sort of like a push up bra. However, the rounded top is a little lower in the front than I would have liked. The top of my breasts are more exposed than I am accustomed to when not in a bathing suit. To remedy this overexposure, I will wear a light evening shawl over my Corset Top.

~Cleaning and Care~
I laundered my new top just once and it maintained its shape without getting loose in any areas, especially the hem line. I hand washed it in warm water with a mild liquid detergent. Spiegel does recommend machine washing, but for a fifty dollar item, I personally would not throw it in with the rest of the laundry.
After I removed the very pretty waist thinning corset top from the sink, I laid it flat to air dry, although it can be dried on a low tumble dry setting. I keep the corset top placed in the plastic bag that it came in laid flat at the bottom of my drawer. I don't see any cause for concern regarding wrinkling, especially if it is well cared for. The stitching is perfectly tight on the handkerchief style front hems; very even and impeccably neat. Of course, Spiegel clothing items usually are extremely well made.
~Final Thoughts and Recommendations~
Overall, I must say that I love this lovely Corset Top and can hardly wait to wear it out again with my spouse on my birthday. This luxurious little top is definitely an eye turner and is also great for improving a woman's self-esteem, both young and old.
Spiegel has ensured that almost every woman can enjoy the flattering body defining beauty of this corset top by providing a wide range of sizes from a petite size four to a larger figured size sixteen. My daughter bought herself a couple of these tops in size 4, imagine that!
