does this child watch anything besides Disney? (Reply to this comment)
by estrellanm
I was pretty disappointed to see that all but one of the movies in this list were Disney titles. Come on, don't you ever watch anything that's not from Disney? I encourage you to broaden your outlook, you'll be surprised what you find.
Happy hunting.

I commend you on this excellent editorial. As for momworkinglate your comment WAS completely arrogant for in your second comment you even put mabye it's because you live in different places implying that where you live people are smarter. I'll have you know that I enjoyed each and every movie on this list and I am onler than 11, so you going to make fun of me now? I tihnk not!
Nice Job,
Erik

Spicy Comments! (Reply to this comment)

Like a moth to a flame, I can't help but move in... so as not to make more jabs into an already jarring conversation, I'd just like to recognize the fact that I've read it all, and am determined to look further into the issue... although I think this may not have been the place to continue such rampant remarks!

exchange of comments. And a lot of attention to your review Christine. I just took a look at your ratings and it seems as though I have found a "Revenge Rater" here. Occasionally I will find a few here and there, but never one so obvious as to show their ID. What a sham -oops SHAME!

Arrogant? No. Honest yes. Perhaps it is because we reside on opposite sides of the country? Here you would not find middle school kids watching the movies you list.
I am sorry if you feel it was rude of me to say my older boys and their friends would choose James Bond over Mouse Hunt or Flubber - hands down.

Jana- Those are my feeling too.
Although, there are some movies that are rated PG-13 (and even 1 or 2 rated R) that I have let my son watch, it was ONLY because I allowed him to... just like most any parent.
To me... if a 10-11 year old child would be bored with any other movie EXCEPT those that are rated for 13 years and older, then that is just too bad. At least it would be too bad for my kid, unless I okayed it. He don't run the show here I do, LOL!!! : )

Thanks Nutters... I agree, every kid is different. So what would make what ONE person's
kid likes or prefer to be what is "typical" of ALL kids the same age?

Great Review..as always- (Reply to this comment)

and these are appropriate movies for children that age. Ten year olds have no business watching PG-13 movies, if they did they wouldn't be rated PG-13 now would they?? :0) Jana

I have to disagree with Momsworkinlate. Just because your children will not or do not watch particular movies does not mean that all 11 year olds are going to watch exactly what your children will. Each child is different and I frankly believe that your comment was totally uncalled for.
Great job as always Christine! Your son has great taste in movies and you keep up the GREAT writing!

Hmmmm... maybe your kids aren't the "typical" ones, LOL
My husband and I run a Boy Scout Den with a large number of 10 and 11 year olds and during our many sleepovers, those movies have been been enjoyed by all.
Thanks for your comment anyways though... even though I thought it was a bit arogant...

Nice article but... (Reply to this comment)
by momsworkinlate
These are not movies typical eleven year olds watch. I have three boys and have had numerous sleepovers. If we popped one of those tapes in for eleven year olds they'd all think I had lost it. No one would sit and watch the film.
In our house my almost seven year old would be the one most likely to pick those movies. I am fairly strict - but we do allow most PG-13 movies for the older boys. We usually preview them first.
