The Bottom Line The blonde beers are light and mild and are the best for brewing with fruity flavors. They've become the grain based brews answer to the wines and ciders.

The blonde beers are the best for adding the sweet, fruity flavors. They have added a large variety of flavors to them, strawberry, cherry, pear and cranberry and even more. Recently they've become beer's answer to the popularity of wine coolers and the exotically flavored fruit wines and coolers.

The Original Twisted Tea is a hard iced tea which describes itself as an original recipe of a “clear malt beverage with select teas and natural flavors.” The label on the bottle says “naturally sweetened.” Since tea is not naturally sweet and neither is lemon, there must be some other juice concentrate in there besides sugar, but I couldn’t find it on the label.

To me it tastes like a very strong brewed tea with lemon. The 5% alcohol by volume seems even weaker than in other malt beverages which claim to be the same percentage. It is very refreshing, I like it. It doesn’t foam at all. I can’t tell any difference in taste from it and a strong fresh brewed nonalcoholic glass of ice tea with lemon, but its color is much lighter, a medium gold.

It's a go with salads and sandwiches while watching the games on TV. The Original Twisted Tea is a just all around good thirst quencher--the answer to having to make iced tea on that warm afternoon.
