When looking for a company to host a customer's site, I went to Epinions.com and did some research. Dreamhost has excellent plans, with a wide variety of features available. For only $9.95 (paid in advance) they supplied: 30 MB storage, 3 pop email accounts, and the usual FTP account. Bandwidth allowed is 2 GB per month, which is more than enough for most small sites, but additional bandwidth can be purchased for $15. They have 24 hour tech support, unlimited email accounts in addition to the 3 pop email accounts. These must be managed using a web interface (not POP 3) or can be set to forward to another address. Unlike other companies, Dreamhost charges no setup or activation fees. SSI, CGI bin and Windows Media Player/Real Player streaming are included. For signing up in advance, you also get 3 extra POP 3 accounts and an additional 30 MB disk space. This ends up being 60 MB storage and 6 POP email accounts if you sign up in advance.
Overall, this is great hosting for an economical price, and I would recommend Dreamhost to anyone looking to start a small website with many features. I have never had any problems with Dreamhost and their FAQ page is excellent.
