| IndyJones's Full Review: Saitek Cyborg 2000 (J-18S) Joystick |
I bought this joystick about one year ago. I bought it because of its versatility for different hand sizes, and its many buttons. I was in for a surprise.
When I took it home, plugged it into my gameport, set it on the desk and turned on the computer, it was immediately recognized by Windows 98 and the drivers were installed. Calibrating was a different story. When I tried to do this, I had many problems. The crosshairs would constantly shake in the calibration window. In my search to find driver fixes for this problem, I found that the Saitek home page offered me no help at all.
So, I used it as it was, and booted up X-wing vs. Tie Fighter. The movements, I noticed, were very hard (sticky), and I actually lifted the base of the joystick off of my computer desk trying to make the hard turns. The control, needless to say, was not very loose, and so my gameplay was horrible. I had to go back to using my mouse.
