Traded out of a 2000 Audi A6 into the 2004 S60R with 6 speed manual. After over 5000 miles and 5 months, the car is STILL fun to drive.
The three handling options allow the driver to adjust responsiveness and road feel at the push of a button... a good feature that allows you to tailor the feel of the car to how you're feeling that day.
The 60R has more than enough power with the 6 speed.. unbelievable pick-up and responsiveness for close highway merges.
Great handling in snow and slush with the AWD (note that you will have to buy a set of Pirelli snow tires for winter driving in you live in the snow belt... the standard tires that are delivered with the car are NOT recommended by the manufacturer for winter driving).
Very comfortable, easy-to-manage interior, although a bit spartan compared to the Audi. The comfort of the front seats is a real plus. A bit tight for rear seat passengers.
Mileage is averaging 21MPG, and getting better as I become more familiar with the shift points.
The audio system available with the Premium Package (e.g., CD changer) is a bit disappointing when compared to the Audi Bose, but I'm getting used to it.
The major downside to the car has been the brake squeal that started at 400 miles and continues intermittently, especially on cold days. Have had it to the dealer for adjustments, but despite their best efforts, have been unable to resolve.
Overall, the 60R is a solid driver's car with loads of power, a comfortable, sporty interior... a good value, as well, when compared to other alternatives.
