The Bottom Line A tour that rocks and leaves you in awe begging for more. See them before it is too late.
Big AC/DC fan, happened to be in the area for vacation, well a nice 6 hour drive from Baltimore to Greensboro, but it was a vacation. This was my first time seeing them live in concert. Slash was supposed to open but was ill, so from the get go I was bummed. Well that and spending $32 on a tee shirt but that is the way concerts work. As the Canadian replacement band finished, not too bad I might add the place was ready to erupt. Chants for Angus began along with women Flashing the crowd. Then the lights faded out and the guitar echoed through the arena. Chills ran down my spine as I was seeing my favorite band in person. I was no longer disappointed. The props were great, a giant statue of Angus and his guitar along with video screens filled the back ground. As Highway to Hell played horns sprung from the head of the statue glowing red. Toward the end of the song, smoke shot from the mouth. Ahh, but there was more to come with this statue, for the statue could move. That it did all night, moving shooting flames, and even flashing the crowd. The lighting was excellent as it hid props and kept the attention of the audience where it belonged watching Angus. It hid the Whole Lotta Rosie prop, a giant Macy's Day Parade type balloon of a fat woman in her undies waving to the crowd. Of course the cannons were there for For Those About to Rock. That is all six of them that sprang from no where while the audience was headbanging to T.N.T.. But the best prop was for Hells Bells. A giant bell that rested over the audience. What made it better was Brian jumping unto the rope and ringing the bell while suspended over the audience. Other props included the normal fire and confetti. What made this concert though was the play of AC/DC. All over the stage. Angus played the guitar on moving platforms that lifted him into the air. He played the guitar on his head, one handed, running and jumping across the stage and rolling on the ground. Midway through sweat poured off of him. Overheated he stripped down to USA boxers to the audiences requests. After the concert, be prepared your ears will ring for days. One thing I was hoping for was thunder to shake the building during Thunderstruck, well that is what I get for dreaming. This might be the last time to see them live; therefore, get your tickets and go. I think it is one of the best concerts I would ever attend. |
