Nick's entry in the "it's all about music write-off"

The Bottom Line Nick is one superfly dude.

This write-off reminded me of those email surveys that you get in the email, expect that it is about music. I usually just delete those dumb surveys because the questions are dumb and don’t interest me. Most of these questions for this write-off seemed cool and interesting, so I decided to participate in the It’s All About Music Write Off.

I'm embarrassed to tell anyone that I love this song and I blast it when it comes on the radio

I would have to say that the I really enjoy the Jay Z song “I Just Wanna Love Ya”. I consider myself to be somewhat of a hip hop elitist and pop-rap like Jay Z just doesn’t appeal to me. Pop-rappers are usually un-talented, and rely on a catchy chorus and a good beat to carry their songs. “I Just Wanna Love Ya” is no exception to the pop-rap rule. For some reason I love this song. I love to sing along with the chorus. I know songs like these are just disposable pop but I still like them. I don’t listen to the radio though, so I would never have an opportunity to blast it on the radio. If I blasted the radio, my mom would turn it down.

Favorite moment at a music award show

I hate music awards shows. They usually only cover pop music, and I hate pop music. I think it’s stupid to give Britney Spears an award for best song or whatever. We shouldn’t award people for making bad music. Who judges these things anyway? It’s definitely not musicians, because they would understand that N Sync has very little real talent. Do they pick giggling teenage girls to pick these awards? That’s what it seems like. Even thought I don’t really like awards shows, I’ve still seen a few in my time. I would say that my favorite moment was when the guy had “Soy Bomb” written on his chest and he got up on stage at the Grammy’s. Either that or when Bobby Brown stumbled out on stage drunk at MTV’s VMAs. I love Bobby Brown, he’s hilarious. Many of people probably didn’t even notice Bobby Brown stumbled out cause it was very brief.

This song makes me feel cool when I'm driving

I don’t drive, but if I were to drive I would listen to War’s song “Lowrider”. This is just a classic driving song. It sucks that I saw it used in a Nissan commercial. It angers me when great songs are used in commercials. I heard a Hendrix song used in a car commercial. I don’t really care if Britney Spears does Pepsi commercials, she’s already one big corporate commercial piece of garbage.

This one brings up painful memories

The song “Fatboy” by the Impossibles brings up bad memories of my childhood. I don’t want to get too deep into it.

Favorite song about sex, booty calls or anything trashy

I’m going to have to say “Put It In Your Mouth” by Akinyele. Those song is just so obscene. The rapper uses all kinds of metaphors and similes to describe giving and receiving oral sex. Those who are easily offended should not listen to this one.

Funniest Song

This is a very broad category. There are some songs that are meant to be funny, and those that are serious but they are so bad that they are funny. I going to pick one from each category. The first song is The Aquabats theme song. For those of you who don’t know about the Aquabats, they are a ska band that dress up like low-rate superheros. They run around and fight crime. The Aquabats them song is quite funny. The seconds song is “Rico Suave” by Gerardo. “Rico Suave” means rich and smooth in Spanish. Gerardo is just so cheesy you can’t help but laugh at him. I can’t believe people actually listened to this crap.

I'd be listening to this on my way to commit a crime

When I first read this category I thought I’d put an NWA song down, but then I decided I’d mix it up a bit. I’m going to go with “I Fought The Law” by Johnny Cash. I’m actually a fan of Johnny Cash’s music. I think the laid back country style would be fitting for a crime. I’d probably be ridding my bike cause I don’t own a car, so I’d have my Discman on.

I can't stand this artist or group

I know this is going to anger some people but I have to say the Beatles. I don’t like the Beatles’ music. I think they are very overrated. All they did was bring rock music to white America. If they didn’t do it someone else would have. I don’t want to start a rant so I’ll leave it at that.

I'd donate a lung or other vital organ, to be alone with this singer

I really like Aaliyah. She’s quite hot. Her music isn’t too bad either. I’m not sure if I’d donate a vital organ to spend time with her though. I might give one of my kidney’s. I could live with one kidney. Another singer I really like is Nelly Furtado, she’s another hottie.

Biggest disappointment, following a hit record

This is a tough category to answer. I spent quite a long time thinking about this one. I’m going to say every album Snoop Dogg put out after Doggystyle. The rest of his albums have been, in my opinion, absolute poo.

This song made me cry (or came close to it)

I have trouble crying. I think my own father could die and I’d have trouble squeezing out a few tears. It’s not that I don’t get sad, it’s just crying doesn’t happen for me. I haven’t cried since grade school. The song “Full Color” by POD is pretty sad. It’s about the death of the lead singer’s mother.

And the loser award goes to. . .

I know this is going to p*ss off SSlabs but I’m going to have to say that the loser award goes to the guys of Metallica. They really made a bad move by going after Napster. You guys are old dinosaurs that refuse to embrace new technology. It’s not like you don’t already have enough money. Who cares if a few college students download “enter sandman”, it’s not like your going to starve to death. SHUT THE F*CK UP YOU WHINNY OLD MEN!!!!!! Sorry, I had to do that.

Coolest thing ever done by an artist or group

I think it’s pretty cool that At the Drive in doesn’t let stores sell their CDs for more than $10. CDs are way overpriced. Most of the money from them goes towards the big huge record company. I also think it’s cool that Fugazi only charges $5 for their shows. That’s awesome.

Well this write-off was pretty fun. I had a good time answering the questions. This write-off was organized by ileneg.
