The Bottom Line I wish people could see how they make others feel, and actually feel for them!!!!
Although I don't personally have teenagers, I do Know the "fun" of helping to raise one... I have a little sister that just recently turned 14! Wow, talk about totally confusing. She is a really great kid, but every now and then we fight over the dumbest things! She wants to borrow a shirt, no I can't borrow her shoes, yet she still wants the shirt. It is like this a lot!! You go to pick her up from school and set there, and set there, and...well you can see that she saw you patiently waiting in the car, yet she just looks away and keeps chatting with like "the hottest guy in the world." I can say, sometimes it is a little nerve racking, but she tells me that she has to be social or she won't be popular...I didn't know that it mattered all that much! But, really it does. Another thing, she is a cheerleader! She is a really good cheerleader and has the potential to go far! Last year, her first year of cheerleading at camp she got nominated "All American Cheerleader!" Amazing, she was so thrilled! This year she tried out for cheerleading again...and made it again! I knew she would. She was so looking forward to going to camp...until her birthday... Like I mentioned before, she just turned 14! She wanted to do something special on her birthday, so I threw her a huge party and let her invite a few of her close friends...(30 or 40 kids showed up!!). Wow, I never had a party like this when I was her age...I don't think that I have ever had that many friends my whole school career. I knew that she would love this...she would be the talk of the school on Monday! And, when it was all over, she was. Of course the party didn't last as long as she had planned. The weather got bad, so everyone had to go home early. Bummer! The real bummer, several of the kids at the party planned their own party at so-and-so's house...and my sis wasn't even invited! Not to mention that a guy that she liked said some stuff about her and has picked on her ever since! Now, My sis is totally against everything that she was for. She has decided to move to a different school, and maybe even be homeschooled. Not that that is bad, but I personally think that she could go very far if she stays in the school she is in now. All of this, all of her decisions, she has made because of what I call a popularity contest...so she didn't win this one...I just wish that she could see that being popular isn't the only thing in life, and that she shouldn't give up! People can be so mean and unthoughtful!But, I guess putting up with it all is just living to the fullest...I just wish that people could see how they make others feel, and actually feel for them.  |
