The Bottom Line Buy cheap balls, they won't hurt your game, or your wallet!
In much of the US the season for golf has come again, and this means many of you have not played since the fall, so I will give you some advice on buying golf balls for your first few rounds of golf this year. Since you will probably be a little rusty when you first hit the links after a long break from the game, the best advice I can give you is to pick up some cheap balls. Personally I get pretty frustrated when I buy expensive balls, and end up losing them in the water, or the woods, so about two years ago I bought a bag of shag balls, I bought them at a sporting goods store, and for the most part they were just a little dirty, but nothing you could not clean off, and then they looked almost perfectly new. And figuring that I would probably lose many of them anyway, whats the difference. Another thing is, unless you are a pro, the difference between golf balls will be pretty small, so don't worry about having the newest ball by nike or whatever, it may help Tiger Woods game, but it will not do much for you. I have only been playing golf for three years, and I only get to play in the summer, so this advice may not be that important for the experianced golfers, but for all you novices out there, there is really no need to spend a lot of money on balls. My final advice for all golfers is do not buy golf balls at the course! Go stop by KMART, or Walmart, or any other major retailer, and you will find the same balls they sell you at the course for less. Enjoy the season, and don't forget to repair your divots, and sweep the bunkers after hitting from them. Have fun. |
