Not that robust
The Bottom Line: This is a great digital-camera for outdoor use!
As a cheap cam, this really is good , the only serious limitation are the light criteria.

If you plan to buy a digital camera, and don't want to spend a lot of money this camera might be just right for you. As long as you are aware of its limitations it works well and comes with a good softwarepackage.
Limitations: As long as the following conditions are satisfied, this camera does take very well images in 16bit color (352 x 288 pixels). 1) There must be a lot of light, since it does not contain a flash-option. 2) All the pictures will dissaper if the 2*AAA batteries run out of power.
The light criteria is very hard to manage, since normal indoor light in the evenings just simply ain't enough for god pictures!
Softwarepackage: The cam comes with a big softwarepackage which alone is well worth the price of 87$ I guess... The product I use at most is "ULead Cool 360" which makes it possible to make full 360 pan views! Other app. included are: Microsoft NetMeeting, ULead Photo Express, ULead VideoStudio, ULead Photo Explorer, CyberLink VideoLive Mail, PenCam Manager.
Trio: The PenCam is labeled "Trio" which referres to that the camera can be used both as a normal digital camera, webcam or even a camcorder (with NO sound). Most of this article covers the camera-feature, but I have found out that the webcam also works just fine. About the camcorder feature you must notice that it can only hold about 15 sec of high res movie... So Yes, this feature is great if you see an UFO, but just don't excpect too much of it.
Tech. details This PenCam
Trio is available in 2 versions, one that can hold 20 high res pictures and one which can hold 80 high res pictures. Don't bother to buy the first version, since you'll notice that it is great to have to option of taking 80 pictures (A have a 80-images PenCam).
The camera can also take low-res images, but don't bother to use this option, the images are simply not good enough.
For the tech. details you might want to visit the producers webpage: http://www.aiptek.com there you'll also notice that they soon will come with an updated version f the cam, wheter if is a good idea to wait and buy that, I don't know.
Lense cover: The PenCam Trio comes with absolute NO lensecover, so you might want to invest in a box or so, to protect the lense...
About the price I found it to 87$ - 699 kr here in the Kingdom of Denmark. You can't compare this price to those in the US, since we have a tax-rate (moms) of 25% on all goods.
