| Infoguy's Full Review: B&W Nautilus HTM1 Bookshelf Speaker |
Like many of us, I had to learn the expensive way, starting my home-theater adventure with budget gear. In less than 3 years, I have gone through 2 consumer grade, off-the-shelf "Circuit Guys" home-theater speaker systems. While this in and of itself is not a bad thing (as I learned a lot along the way) it was somewhat costly in wasted time and money.
So I want to save you folks who can afford high-end audio equipment some time and hassle. Follow these instructions to the letter and you will never be disappointed with the sound of your home-theater or stereo system. Never again will you wonder if perhaps you could be getting better sound quality from your audio components.
So here it is. Go to your nearest B&W Speaker dealer and purchase a complete B&W Nautilus home-theater speaker system with the HTM1 as your Centerpiece.
Now wasn't that simple? I just solved your entire audio quality dilemma. Anyway, that's what I did. My system includes the HTM1 Center Channel, two 804's, two ASW2500 powered sub-woofers and the Nautilus rear surrounds.
All I can tell you is WOW! You've really got to hear this system for yourself. The soundstage that is created is truly magnificent. I'm hearing sounds and nuances in my music and movie soundtracks that I've never heard before. The detail and clarity allow you to literally pick individual musical instruments out of the orchestra and experience the music as if the musicians were just steps away from your easy chair. In fact, on one of my classical recordings, I can now hear the musicians take their breaths just before beginning the movement. (This is something that I never heard on any previous speaker system.)
Now obviously, you will need quality amplification and effect processors to complete the picture, but no matter what brand of electronic component you use, the B&W speakers will absolutely bring out the best that your components are capable of producing.
In summary, if you have the bucks to spend, I believe that B&W offers a lifetime of excellent quality audio. I seriously doubt that I will ever feel the need to upgrade these speakers for the rest of my life. I'm 46 so I hope to be enjoying my B&W's for many years to come.
Oh, just one after-thought. With DVD Audio and/or SACD just around the corner, it will be more important than ever to have quality center channel and surround speakers.
So good luck and happy listening!
