The Bottom Line This diet does work.If you have a very strong will. You really should read on this before jumping in.I know because I have been there.
Cabbage Soup-A real Loser-
If you are a person like me,this diet just doesn't cut it.I started this diet (which actually requires a two day fast of only water to work)in hopes of losing ten pounds in one week.I lost four which immediately came back. The contents of the soup are cabbage, onions, tomatos, celery, and no salt.See,the way the diet works is the contents of the soup actually take more calories to consume than they give to the body. The trick with the salt is,your body can only digest about 300 grains of salt per day.Which is about equivalent to a single shake on a salt shaker.Sodium(salt)is actually labeled as a poison in drug stores, yet we eat it heartily. So,what does your body do with the excess salt?Well,it stores it by wrapping water around it,then placing it in your fatty tissues.Until you manage not to take in the full daily allowance,it just waits there making you look fat.If you put the salt in the soup you more than likely will not loose weight, only gain "water" weight. So,if you can do a two day fast drinking only water and very little diluted orange juice, then eat a soup resembling lumpy water,I guess this diet is for you.
The Two Day Fast:
Start your day by drinking a glass of water with the juice of one lemon squeezed in.The lemon actually strips the stomach of old mucous. The water washes away all the harmful stored salt in your body. Most people loose as many as four pounds in these two days.If you start eating salt again do not be surprised to see it come back.
One Thing:
DO NOT do this diet longer than a week. The soup has no nutrient content and the body can actually starve to death. If you go on this diet and you like the results, yet have not lost the desired amount of weight, you can do it again safely in two weeks.
