| Freak369's Full Review: Casabella Big Bucket |
When it comes to cleaning, I would rather spend a few more dollars initially on a product than to have to keep forking out small sums of money every few months. Thats how I came across Bertha, Bertha The Bucket; is it too terribly strange to have a name for a bucket? I was looking for a replacement bucket for a mop combo set I purchased at Smart & Final a few years ago. Now, I go to Smart & Final on an almost daily basis but the stores in the United States dont sell this particular brand and when I went to the stores in Mexico they told me they no longer carried the combo set but still had the mops for sale. The original bucket was identical to this one except it was red and had a deeper pour spout on the front. When I mentioned this to Chris when we were shopping in Tijuana, he told me that he saw a cool blue one in a store in Los Angeles for a medical conference. He remembered me saying that if I ever lost my lovely little red bucket, cleaning just wouldnt be the same. As luck would have it, Chris was going back to Los Angeles for a few days to visit friends and decided to surprise me with a new blue bucket! Yeah, that might seem a little pathetic to get so jacked up about a bucket
but youve never seen Bertha in action!
The Casabella Big Bucket
One of the first things you might notice about Bertha is her size. She can hold a massive four gallons of liquid which makes it a great pick for washing your vehicle, mopping up the floors or cleaning the bathroom. Since this is rectangular in size it take up a lot less space than the standard round buckets and shape of it makes it more sturdy and allowing less of a chance of spills. Bertha has seen a lot of use since she joined us and so far, shes no worse for wear a few minor scratches here and there but nothing major. I am really kicking myself for not telling Chris to pick up several of these because they have a ton of uses outside of those I already mentioned. Again, the rectangular shape means that theres no wasted space under a sink or on a shelf which makes it great to store cleaning products and supplies in. Outside of that, this is a great way to organize things in kids rooms; some of the plastic containers Ive seen used to hold toys or play things are so thin and flimsy that I had to laugh at the prices of them. Pick up a few of these, remove the handles and viola, you have sturdy, safe buckets to store toys in.
This bucket is truly a necessity for anyone that takes cleaning seriously. As I said, it hold four gallons of liquids and you can fill it to the brim and still pick it up and carry it without the sides flexing or warping try that with a round bucket and see what happens. The pour spout is deep enough that it releases the liquid without dribbles but isnt so wide that you lose control of it when you are pouring. The handle is metal and is securely attached to the top sides of the bucket and even if you fill this to the top, the handle doesnt give at all when you pick it up. Theres a thick rubber tube around the top part pf the handle to make it a little more comfortable when carrying but if this is the first time you are using this bucket, it may seem a little awkward, sort of like the handle is sliding around on you. The walls of the bucket are strong, how strong you ask? So strong that I can turn it over and stand on it without it giving in under my weight. I dont suggest doing this but I just had to see if this bucket would be able to really pass the freak test it did, any with flying colors.
This is the perfect size and shape for almost every type of mop, ever tried to get one of the rectangular sponge type mops into a round bucket? Its not only frustrating, its messy and leaves you with more work. Since I generally mop up the floors a few times a week then do my major monthly cleaning this bucket proves to be an indispensable tool when doing the floors. The sponge mop fits into the bucket perfectly and theres still plenty of room for the rinse water so it doesnt splash all over the place. So what does all this cost? Well, these normally run anywhere from $8.99 to $10.00 but Chris handed me the receipt with a huge smile on his face a dead give away that it was on sale. Sure enough, I looked at the slightly rumbled piece of paper and there it was - $6.99. For that price he should have known that he needed to buy at least three of them, but hey, hes still in training so I cut him some slack. Even at the suggested retail price of $9.99 this is a great deal because it will be a long, long time before it needs to be replaced so in the long run you are saving some cash.
The Bottom Line
For me this is the perfect bucket; its strong, doesnt retain any smells even if I use a product with bleach in it and I know it will last a long, long time. If you are in the market for a bucket that will keep up with all your cleaning needs, I highly suggest checking out the Casabella Big Bucket! To check out all the great products from Casabella, visit their official website at www.casabella.com or visit any of the retail stores that now carry their products. You cant call yourself a compulsive cleaner if you dont own one of these, and if it is the price that seems to hold you back from making a purchase, just look at it this way its better to spend ten bucks on a bucket that will last you a few years than to keep forking out three or four dollars every six months not to mention the spills and accidents that occur with those other buckets.
As always, thanks for the read!
