| markshoe's Full Review: 2004 Toyota Sienna 2WD |
It was time to finally buy a minivan, and even I was excited. My wife and I have two children and found that traveling in our Camry or Century was difficult for trips over 45 mins. We needed something with passenger and cargo space. I did my homework and narrowed the field to the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna. We bought a 2004 Toyota Sienna LE(8 passenger)w/ package #7. The choice was clear since we have been long time fans of Toyota products. Also, the 2004 has some innovative designs. The 3rd row seat can split and fold flush with the floor. The side passenger windows can be lowered about 75%. The second row has 3 captain chairs. The middle one is a tad smaller than the other two and is ideal for an infant carrier/seat. It can event slide closer to the driver/passenger for easy care of the child. Also, the cabin is filled with many storage compartments for drinks, cd's, sunglasses, etc. The van handles like a car, not a bulky van. It rides smoothly and the seats are fairly comfortable. I'm 6'2", and have no problem sitting in the second row seats.
There are a few "cons," but they are not that big of a concern. I find the front seats to have the feeling of being tilted slightly forward. Also, the van has a lag of acceleration from a complete stop. Be careful of the rear hatch when loading or unloading. I've bumped my head a few times!
I've also found that the van is very difficult to come buy especially with the options you desire. No longer can you pick and choose your options, now you must select an option package. We decided which features we really wanted, and selected the package which had most or all of those features.
Overall, this is a great van for any aged driver.
