Pros: Compact size, lightweight, delivers high-quality shots in high-res mode, easy to use
Cons: Steady hand required for sharp pictures; viewfinder is a bit smaller than I'd like.
The Bottom Line: Great camera to make the break from film--even for a shutterbug like me!

| kentmom's Full Review: Olympus Stylus 400 Digital Camera |
I studied the market and analyzed several other cameras in this price range w/similar features before I bought this one...and I love it. It is very durable (I'm a klutz and have dropped it repeatedly, already!) and lightweight--a good combination for me. In contrast to some of the other reviewers, I have gotten good results indoors (comparable to my Olympus Stylus "regular" film camera) and GREAT outdoor shots. I have also downloaded photos onto my Dell computer without any problems. My only major complaint is that pictures blur badly unless you have a very steady hand. With practice, I've improved my technique. When I'm in a hurry to get the shot, sometimes I still move too much to get a sharp picture. In a perfect world, this camera would have a slightly larger viewfinder (although I have no complaints about the screen view) and it would capture the image just a bit faster (reducing potential for blur). Other things I really love about this camera: +Olympus' online tutorials and troubleshooting web pages are a breeze to use+The "Camedia" software that comes with the camera is easy to use and has a surprisingly wide range of features (plus, you can upgrade for a fairly low price, like $20 - $30, if you want to)+The battery and memory card both hold up well in real-life situations.
