I have been using a Glenayre Access Link pager for over three months. The service provider is Skytel (which I have been using for over 3 years), and the main area of use is Chicago.
This pager is small, but the heft of the pager gives me the secured feeling that the pager will not break under constant use. The back-light button is great, as it turns on by pressing a button for a few seconds, as oppose to some Motorola pagers that activate by the total lack of light. The screen is readable at any angle, and the display is large enough for me to read while driving. My reception has been good, but my old Skywriter by Motorola was much better in that area. I have not missed any pages and find the paging notification to be fast (under 20 seconds). The quiet time mode is great, as my pager is on 24/7, and knowing that my pager goes into automatic silent mode from 1:00 AM - 6:00 AM will not interrupt my sleep. Battery life is about 3-4 weeks, but I find leaving the pager in IR mode will reduce battery life. The memory capacity of the pager is quite expansive, as I stored well over 100 pages on the pager.
The only bad point of this pager is the lack of speed that a person can type messages. Glenayre requires the user to input messages by pressing the main function button to scroll around a virtual keyboard. This is not a problem for me as I use my Palm VII for sending email.
I like the pager's small size, yet it is large enough that I feel comfortable knowing it is there. I have a web-based email account and have my email forwarded to the pager. This way I will never miss an important email. Overall this pager does the trick for me, but others may find other pagers much more comfortable to use.
