cost of owning...

The Bottom Line The Harley-Davidson can be expensive, but what can't? Its all in what you want! I like the ride and the fact my bikes don't lose value.

The cost of owning a Harley-Davidson depends on where you're standing. If you're like me and fall into the motorhead way of life, you're in luck. If you get a new H-D, that is an expense all its own, and, if you know how to read the owners manual, you should have a bike with regular maintenance and some regular kind of breakdowns. If you are like me and buy the older ones, then I hope you're a mechanic of sorts. For me working on them is almost as much fun as riding them, but there again I do my own work, know some shortcuts to high price parts, such as rebuild kits instead of new parts. I have also come across some less fortunate people who spent top dollar on one and came up short when they got to a closer look! If you have a trusted friend who can help you pick one, it can save you a bundle, if you know what you're looking at, that helps. All boiled down its like anything else. Do you want a Mercedes, or an Escort? What will be cheaper to operate? A good Mercedes may be cheaper than a bad Escort! I have have more than one Harley- Davidson, they all have their own personalities. One is cheaper to operate than the other, but then I like them all for different reasons!
