Pros: saves data well, memory never gets erased, light-weight, good quality, nice design, fairly small
Cons: Only 8 MB! My gamecube's card holds 32x as much!; $10-$15
The Bottom Line: Check out the section entitled "So, is this a worthy buy or not?"

| videogamzrulz's Full Review: Sony 8MB Memory Card PS2 |
Anyone who owns a next-gen system knows you need to have a memory card. It is just one of those extras that are a MUST. I remember the day I thought I could get away with not having a memory card for my Gamecube. Once you are done playing, you have two choices: leave the system on all the time and hope it doesn't overheat, or lose all your precious data and have to start all over next time. I learned the hard way that you MUST have a memory card.
The other thing I learned the hard way about a memory card is that you should buy from first-party companies. That means the company that made the system (Sony, in this case). Third-party companies' products are cheaper, but they are cheaper for a reason. They break. Quickly. Usually first-party products last for years, plus, the quality is better.
Okay, enough about what I've learned - onto the review.
When I first bought my PS2, I knew I needed a memory card. The question was: which one? For my gamecube, I had an excellent 256 MB memory card, with more space than I needed. I expected no less of my PS2's memory card. When I found that Sony only made memory cards that were 8MB, I had a decision to make. Should I go with a risky third-party memory card that had more MBs, or should I stick with the Sony?
I'm glad I made the decision I did. I got the card for $10 (I was searching for a deal VERY hard). The card saves the data fine, my stuff never gets erased or anything, which is a good thing. :) It is very light (like any memory card) and transports well (like that would be a problem). The overall quality is much better then those third-party sources (my friends say that the third-party cards give them all sorts of trouble). It is light blue and see-through (in case you care) and a bit larger then the gamecube's memory card.
Sounds great, right? Well, the downside is that it barely holds any memory. Only 8 MB! My gamecube's card holds 32x as much! It took me about ten games to fill the card. Every time I have to save data now I have to erase other data. I'm considering buying another card, but I don't know if I can get it for 10 bucks again...
So, is this a worthy buy or not?
Yeah, because you gotta save your data, and this is the best there is. If you are really concerned about it filling up too fast, you might want to risk it and buy a bigger card from a third-party source. But if you are looking for quality, stick with Sony.
