Thank you for your kind words, Teresa.
As with so many other restaurants in NYC, Mary’s would be a great “extended kitchen” (since hardly anyone cooks around here) and neighborhood hang-out but for the maddening crowds. Another reason why we love Cendrillon.

You are quite right about the tartar sauce on the fries. Like Belgian frites with mayonnaise. Sometimes we request malt vinegar to accompany the fries as well. Too bad about the wait at this place though. Next time we may just get an order of those shoestring fries to go.

As does Dr. kboo. Thank goodness they both have fast metabolisms. Otherwise what a curse it would be to be married to two foodies like us, especially if restaurant reviewing becomes a full-time occupation some day. :)

Shoestring fries? Homemade tartar sauce? (Reply to this comment)
by tanster
Well gee, what else do you need besides that? ;)
Actually, tartar sauce *on* the fries is actually fabulous. When we go to our favorite fish and chips place, I always order extra tartar sauce for my fries.
Even though not as good as Pearl Oyster Bar, still sounds like a yummy place. Another entry to my must-try list the next time I make a trip to NYC!

Yummy! (Reply to this comment)

But way too crowded.
It is good to have such a reliable husband, isn't it? By your description one would think that he is the size of Dom DeLuise. But far from it! He does take care of his appearance...

Lobstergirl, I feel like this entire review is a tribute to you, being that lobster is featured so prominently. One of these days you will have to share with us the origins of your handle. It's a good thing there weren't any lobster knees or lobster ankles since it was already way too much trouble to crack those lobster knuckles.

You laugh, Barbara, but it's true. When I first moved to New York, I thought the entire city was one large infested sewage system. Now I don't notice most of the distinctive smells of the city unless I'm waiting for a train at the Union Square station. That place still reeks of urine. Thanks for reading!

I am a little disappointed there was no mention of Lobster Knees or Lobster Ankles. Still, a wonderful review.

" charming neighborhoods in Manhattan - a little slice of Paris. It's one of
the few areas in the city where the air actually smells of flowers in the
springtime instead of garbage."
You got me with that sentence!
LOL
Great hungermaking review as usual
